Modern slavery covers forced labour, child labour, domestic servitude, bonded labour and human trafficking. The Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) does not require a statement from a business of our size. We follow its principles anyway, and this page sets out how.
We do that because we are committed to conducting ourselves ethically, because we believe everyone working for us or in our supply chain deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, because fair labour practices are part of human rights, and because we want to work with partners who take the same view. The policy applies to everyone at Advance Plants, including contractors, and it informs how we choose who we buy from.
Operations are entirely local
Advance Plants is an Australian indoor plant hire and landscape maintenance business operating in South East Queensland. We have no interstate or international operations, and our team is 100 per cent Australian based, all of it in South East Queensland.
We employ our team directly, permanently wherever we can
Permanent employment attracts better people and keeps them longer. Casual employment suits some situations, such as a student who cannot commit to set hours each week. We use sub-contractors only where a job needs specialist skills we do not have in house, usually at a client’s request—arborist and irrigation work are the common examples.
Pay and conditions reviewed at least once a year
For everyone, against the National Employment Standards and the relevant industry award, which we meet or exceed.
Overseas-manufactured inputs are limited
We deliberately source most of what we use from local, family-owned businesses—our plants, soil, decorative mulch, fertilisers and chemicals. The main things we buy that are manufactured overseas are pots, handheld power equipment and vehicles. The equipment and vehicles come from established manufacturers with modern slavery reporting of their own. Pots and uniforms are the categories we can say least about, and we would rather name that than imply a certainty we do not have.
We screen our major suppliers for adverse media
Specifically for adverse media relating to human exploitation, and we keep building our own understanding of where the risks sit. We talk to our peers and our industry body about modern slavery risk, and we encourage our key suppliers to develop policies of their own.
If a risk surfaces
We will not knowingly do business with anyone engaged in modern slavery or human trafficking, or knowingly allow it in our supply chain. If a risk does surface, what we do depends on what we find. It may mean talking to the supplier, talking to clients or others affected, referring the matter to the authorities, or considering what remediation is owed to the people involved.
Our Modern Slavery Policy was last reviewed in September 2026 and is next due for review in September 2028. It is approved by our Director.
