We support a small number of organisations over long periods rather than spreading modest amounts across many. We donate, and where support can also become a trading relationship we build one, because commercial revenue lasts in a way a single gift does not.
Where the money goes
As a local, family-owned business, Advance Plants has a deliberate strategy to source the majority of its inputs from social enterprises and other local, family-owned businesses. A shorter supply chain means less transport and lower emissions, as well as faster turnaround and fewer failure points. It is also a matter of principle: we are a South East Queensland business, and we prefer the money to stay here.
We are not tied to proprietary pot or plant lines, and we do not grow our own stock, which means our sourcing decisions follow quality, ethics and locality rather than a supply agreement.

86 per cent of addressable spend is local
Local suppliers accounted for 72 per cent of total supplier spend. Excluding categories with no local family-owned alternative—fuel, registration, rent, rates, utilities and software—local suppliers represented 86 per cent of addressable spend, up from 83 per cent the previous year.

The organisations we support
HELP Nursery a not-for-profit providing employment opportunities for people with disability. Wherever possible we source our plants through HELP, which gives them recurring commercial revenue rather than a one-off donation.
Scholarships for First Nations children from regional and remote areas to attend some of Australia’s best boarding schools. Supported since 2020, including the annual fundraising gala dinner.
A not-for-profit supporting women experiencing domestic violence. Advance Plants provides indoor plant hire services at no charge.
A not-for-profit building safer, healthier communities through youth development. Advance Plants provides indoor plant hire services at no charge.
An annual conference promoting women in leadership. Advance Plants provides indoor plant hire services each year.
Ridewest is a charity bike ride from Brisbane to Longreach raising funds for the RFDS. Our Director rode it in 2026, personally raising more than $10,000.
Financial support through the Valley Velo event, held each year west of Brisbane.
We support the Flower and Garden horticulture displays at the Royal Queensland Show, which exist to promote horticulture as a craft and as a career.
