Best winter indoor plants

Best winter indoor plants: Aglaonema

Are you looking for the best winter indoor plants that will survive the inevitable temperature drop?

As the temperature cools, there are certain things around us that are starting to struggle. Our skin, our immune system and our plants. Much like people, some plants are just not made for the cold.

And while there are certain things you can do to care for struggling plants through the winter, it’s also just logical to fill your space with ones that thrive in colder temperatures.

To keep it simple, we’ve selected our top two winter indoor plants.

1. Anthurium  (Flamingo Flower)

The Anthurium plant, or Flamingo Flower, is not only decorative but also very good for your health. It acts as a natural air filter that works to clean up the air of your indoor environment. It is perfect for helping to clear out those nasty germs floating around the office.

Along with red, pink or white flowers it also boasts beautiful red, shiny, heart-shaped leaves. It is because of its red leaves that the Anthurium is also known at “tongues of fire”, which is a very cool name for a plant if you ask us.

As these plants tend to tolerate colder temperatures, they don’t need too much tending to throughout winter. And whatever care it does need, our team here will always be on top of keeping your immune booster as healthy as it makes you!

2. Aglaonema: The Chinese Evergreen

The Aglaonema: another plant that is awesome for filtering out that germy air. While the Aglaonema is a great plant for winter, if it’s exposed to air that is a bit too chilly, it won’t be so healthy itself. Therefore, it’s perfect to keep inside the office.

Another benefit of this plant is that it is pleasing to the eye. The Aglaonema has large, narrow and glossy oval leaves on short stems. It is one of the most popular indoor plants because of its awesome colour variations.

These plants grow from dark green to silver to pink, with some hints of redwhich is perfect to brighten some of the dull winter days!

How winter indoor plants can help boost your immune system

One of the benefits of having plants indoors during winter include their unique constituents that can both boost and balance your immune system.

Plants help by directly fighting against the bad bacteria, viruses and fungi that constantly chase us during winter. So filling a workspace with indoor plants will also help employees stay happy, healthy and productive in the office.

Studies have shown, plants can help reduce the amount of employee sick leave taken by up to 10 per cent.
